My 2014 Resolutions

Last year I had a LOT of resolutions. Some of which I achieved, others not so much. Here's what I did achieve . . .
  • I did walk to work more, almost every day during the summer, in fact
  • I did replace many of my health, beauty and cleaning items with more natural alternatives
  • I did start to eat more probiotics and gelatin (and it seems to have helped so far)
  • I have made a good dent in paying off my debt, though having unexpected hospital bills did mean deferring some of my student loans for a few months.
  • I have continued to sponsor two children abroad, but have not given to my church as much as I'd like
  • I did plant a garden, and was able to use some of the veggies to make a gallon of bone broth - that's hands down the best I've yet made. Though my garden didn't yield as much as I'd have liked, it was a great learning experience that I can apply to the coming year!
So I didn't learn to hunt or get my gun. I didn't stay 100% real food, I caved and for a while actually HAD to eat gluten foods for the sake of my health testing. Having unexpected hospital bills did throw a kink in several of my plans. But overall, I think I did pretty well.

This year, though, I decided to focus my efforts on accomplishing just two things. These things are such a high priority that if other things I might like to do have to get put on a back burner, then so be it.
  • Read the whole Bible, all the way through, within the year. I've read it a lot, some books multiple times in fact, but I think I've missed some pieces and I've never gone through cover to cover in just one year.
  • Get healthy - move more, eat better - this will be achieved and proven by running a 5k, hiking a 14-er and achieving a healthy weight. (I don't have a specific weight in mind, but have a general idea of what would be a good range for me. However, if I don't achieve a specific weight and do achieve my other important health goals I will consider this resolution met).
What are your resolutions for the coming year?

  1. Hi there,
I am following you from Faith Filled Fridays. Yes - I love the read your Bible in a year. I did that 3 times and I guess it is time I do that again too. I do read about 4 devotionals every morning and journal.
My goal - to Follow Christ this year. In every move I make.

  2. No resolutions. Haven't done them for a few years because I can never keep them. Instead I pick one word a year to focus on. This year my word is count. http://unafamiliaalaskena.blogspot.com/2013/12/count-word-of-year-for-2014.html#.UsiHnfshMYE
